Recommended Camera Equipment
Tested in the field. Our expedition vehicles and porters are dedicated to transporting your professional optics safely.
- Dual camera bodies: Rig one with your 24-70mm and the second with your 70-200mm. When dancers suddenly whirl toward you or lamas blow ceremonial horns, swapping lenses on the fly will miss the frame and pull courtyard dust directly onto your bare sensor.
- Fast 70-200mm f/2.8 lens: Essential for isolating masked Cham dancers without stepping into sacred performance rings. In bright sun, lock your shutter to at least 1/1000s to freeze the silk streamers mid-spin, or deliberately drop to 1/30s while panning with a dancer's wooden mask for expressive motion blur.
- 24-70mm f/2.8 & 35mm f/1.4 prime: Get physically closer inside prayer chambers rather than zooming from afar. The f/1.4 prime allows you to work purely with flickering butter lamps and fragrant incense light without ever firing a disruptive flash in front of praying monks.
- 100-400mm telephoto lens: For Chitwan riverbank safaris, shoot from low dugout canoe angles to get eye-level with basking gharials and rhinos. Keep your continuous focus tracking in zone mode so river mist and tall elephant grass don't hijack your autofocus.
- Tripod and circular polarizer: For Sarangkot Himalayan sunrises, use a polarizer turned only halfway to tame high-altitude haze without blackening the deep alpine sky. Pre-focus manually on mountain ridgelines before first light hits the summits.
