Our Philosophy & Collective

Visual Stewardship in the Himalayas

Marga Photography was founded on a simple conviction: Nepal deserves to be photographed with depth, patience, and profound cultural respect—not as an exotic backdrop for rushed tourist itineraries.

Born Out of Marga Adventure

Established through the field expertise of Marga Adventure, our lineage is rooted in high-altitude mountain expeditions, remote backcountry logistics, and cultural stewardship across Nepal. Yet we recognized that photographers have fundamentally different needs than hikers.

A hiker wants to reach the next camp before afternoon. A photographer wants to remain on a freezing ridgeline through twilight to capture the precise instant alpenglow strikes an 8,000-meter wall.

Marga Photography is our dedicated response: an autonomous, photography-first collective where every route, vehicle, schedule, and team member is oriented around light, artistic mentorship, and visual storytelling.

Our Ethical Commitment

1. Respect Before ExposureWe never intrude upon sacred ceremonies without prior spiritual consent. We sit, listen, and share tea before reaching for camera bags.
2. Direct Economic HonorariumWe directly compensate artisanal families, monasteries, and local communities for their time and hospitality.
3. Strict Wildlife DistanceWe do not bait, corner, or stress wildlife in Bardia or Chitwan. Our trackers use natural behavioral cues and ethical viewing distances.
